La Guajira is a department in the Costa Norte region of Colombia.
Warning: The region is, as of 2011, very violent and is directly affected by the high concentration of neo-paramilitary and guerrilla groups. The paramilitaries are notorious for massacres against the indigenous population. (http://colombiareports.co...). As of July 2011, much of the region seemed more stable and safe.
